I’m Ellen “Jelly” McRae (you can thank my husband for the nickname!) and I write the women's fiction series 1 Lovelock Drive. It’s based on my life in Melbourne, the romances I’ve stuffed up and features the business I have now.
The fiction world is fun. But there is so much more that happens that I can’t ignore and love to share with you.

"The Melbourne private school kids are all grown up, but some things never change….
In the suburbs of Melbourne’s wealthy south lives Andie and her three friends, James, GG and Sophia. Despite being from different walks of life, the four have one thing in common: they’re survivors of Melbourne’s privileged, arrogant and pressure-fueled private school system.
Navigating their lives now that they’re in their thirties, life outside of the private school bubble proves challenging. Romance isn’t straightforward. Careers are complicated. And figuring out how to fit in with Melbourne’s elite? Impossible.
But at least they have each other, right? Or do they?
1 Lovelock Drive isn’t your traditional romance, chick-lit novel. This “fiction” book (as we will loosely call it) began as an online blog for me, taking from my personal life to deliver saucy gossip from the Melbourne streets.
With the stories collated in one place, this debut novel is closer to a memoir than fiction. It’s a handbook for understanding romance, friendship and success in one of the world’s most vibrant cities."
